The new premium mobile game for iOS and Android focuses on symmetry and harmony

Helsinki, Finland, Dec 2nd, 2013 – Today, a recently founded Helsinki-based game studio Hyperspace Yard launched a premium puzzle game for mobile. Division Cell, available on App Store and Google Play, is a completely new kind of tap-to-play game, in which the player is presented with an asymmetric view of shapes that need to be organized. The founders of Hyperspace Yard are a team of game industry veterans, who have been developing games for a number of years and who share a passion for digital art.

The founders are Production Designer Visa-Valtteri Pimiä, who has previously worked for companies such as Sony, Remedy and Mr. Goodliving on projects such as Death Rally, Doodle Jump and the PS4 demo unit interface, and Lead Developer Evgeni Gordejev, who is known for creating a physics based puzzle game Tupsu. Currently exceeding two million downloads, Tupsu is available on several mobile application stores. The third founder, Marketing Specialist Jari Jaanto is also one of the creators of the Finnish social networking site IRC-Galleria and co-founder of the company behind the real time communication tool Ninchat.

“The idea of Division Cell first sprang from the fundamental human need to arrange things symmetrically”, Mr. Gordejev, explains. “After finishing the prototype in February 2013, we recognized this is an idea which should be developed into a fully functional game”.

“When I first saw the early version of the game, I immediately recognized the potential of its simplicity and design. Previously I’ve developed mostly action arcade games, so Division Cell seemed like a great opportunity to do something fresh and completely different on our own terms”, Mr. Pimiä adds.

The game, consisting of 140 Puzzle Mode levels and two other procedurally generated, always fresh game modes, is available on the App Store and Google Play for $1.99 for iOS and Android devices. Division Cell is also available as an HTML5 version at
